Forest Fires
My Journal Writing Entry
The journal topic for today is forest fires. Forest fires are a real threat in the area that I live in. I live in Kamloops, BC, which is part of the Okanangan Valley. The Okanagan Valley is home to Canada’s only desert.
This year we have had scorching hot temperatures between 90 and 100 degress Fahrenheit for the past three weeks now. We are under threat of forest fires when the temperatures here get that hot, especially with the fact that we are getting hardly any rain too. It is very dry here. You step on the grass in the mountains and it crunches under your feet.
There are three different forest fires burning around us each about an hour or so away from us. We hear water bombers overhead every day now.
Forest fires are very dangerous. It has caused thousands of people to be evacutated from their homes this year. We should all make an effort to try to keep things safe from forest fires.
